Other Ways to Give to Mending Faces: Planned Gifts
1. Outright gifts of appreciated assets as a substitute for cash: Gifting appreciated assets to Mending Faces may allow you to receive a charitable deduction for the full market value of the assets and may result in no capital gains tax on the transfer.
2. Split Interest Gifts Using a Charitable Lead or Charitable Remainder Trust: You can make a gift to a trust that either (a) provides an income stream to Mending Faces for a term of years with the remainder going to your family (Charitable Lead Trust) or (b) provides an income stream to you for a term of years with the remainder going to Mending Faces (Charitable Remainder Trust). Either type of trust, if properly drafted, may offer you an immediate charitable deduction and may also offer a way to minimize the tax cost of transferring assets to your family. If the Charitable Trust is funded with appreciated property, you may also avoid capital gain tax on the transfer.
3. The Mending Faces Endowment Fund, adding us to your will: An investment in our Endowment Fund ensures that children born with cleft lip and cleft palate for generations to come will have access to much-needed surgery.
